Data Literacy: Data Competencies for Science and Everyday Life
Data is often referred to as the "oil of the 21st century" and is becoming increasingly important, especially due to the growing digitalization of society. Therefore, competencies for handling data appropriately are not only essential qualifications for specific professionals like data scientists but also play a crucial role across all academic disciplines. Beyond academia, these competencies are equally important, as they are indispensable in professional life and for active participation in society.
In this context, the term Data Literacy is frequently mentioned. But what exactly is data, and what does Data Literacy actually mean? What competencies are part of Data Literacy, and when do I need them in my daily life? These and other fundamental questions on the topic will be explored in this event.
In addition to providing an overview of the topic, the event will also offer information about the student opportunities in the summer semester 2025 and the DaLiJe certificate program at the University of Jena.

The event will be held online via Zoom. All registered participants will receive the access details before the event.
