Datenwerkstatt Jena 2024
From March 5th to 7th, we are hosting the first Data Literacy Datathon in Jena. If you're interested in working on real challenges from the University, the University and State Library (ThULB), or the city of Jena while enhancing your own data skills, then this event is perfect for you.
The individual challenges offer a variety of tasks, including not only "classic" data analysis but also the design of data collection methods or the development of creative data visualizations.
Whether you already have a lot of experience in data or are just curious and eager to solve real-world problems, students from all disciplines, regardless of previous knowledge, are welcome to participate.

Here are the key points summarized:
What is a Datathon?
During the Datathon, you will work on one of the provided challenges in an interdisciplinary team for 3 days. Teams will have access to facilities and mentors from 10 am to 6 pm who can assist with questions and issues. On the final day, each team will present their results, which will be discussed with the challenge providers.
Depending on your interests and prior experience, you can participate in accompanying workshops that provide an introduction to useful methods and tools for tackling the challenges.
Who can participate?
Whether you're a beginner or a pro, students from all fields and semesters are invited. No specific prerequisites are required.
We look forward to a diverse group of participants who will enrich the projects with their different perspectives and skills. Students can earn the DaLiJe "Project" certificate by participating in the event.
