Programming and tieing shoes have something in common: You have to do it (repeatedly) to learn it

Due to the increasing digitization of all scientific disciplines, digital competencies become increasingly important. Especially the handling of programming languages can simplify working steps and enables the use of new methods.

The winter school is aimed at all students that work with texts and would like to learn basics of programming in Python. The main target group are students from the humanities, law and social sciences but everyone interested is also welcome.

No specific prior knowledge is required. You will learn all necessary basics regarding the function of computers and programming. The main part of the course will be hands-on exercises in Python - Learning by Doing!

The winter school is organized by the project Data Literacy Jena (DaLiJe) and the Digital Research Competence Center (zedif). It will be an online course via Zoom. The access information and further details will be send to all participants until 16 February 2022.
